1. Initial Application For Residence Permit

After entering China with X1 visa, international students must apply for residence permit at Exit & Entry Administration of Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau within 30 days.

(1) Submit the following application documents

① Original and copy of valid passport and visa;

② Original application letter and admission or admission certificate indicating the learning period of the Institute;

③ Original Visa Application Form for Study in China (Form JW202);

④ Completed Visa and Residence Permit Application Form and one photo (white background and passport photo size);

⑤ Registration Form of Temporary Residence;

⑥ Original Health Certificate issued by Jiangsu International Travel Healthcare Center (Provided by those who have reached the age of 18 and apply for a residence permit valid for more than 1 year for the first time).

(2) Pay Fees

Charging standard:400 yuan/person (valid for less than one year)

(3) Obtaining Residence Permit

After the application documents are submitted,it shall be completed within 7 working days,and the residence permit shall be retrieved with the payment receipt.

2. Application For Renewal of Residence Permit

When applying for a new residence permit with a new passport, international students must provide the following documents in addition to the above documents:

(1) To obtain a new passport due to the loss of a passport, a passport loss report certificate issued by the Exit & Entry Administration of Public Security Bureau or a note from a foreign embassy or consulate in China must be provided;

(2) Those who get a new passport because their passport is about to expire or their visa pages are used up must provide the passport they hold at the time of this entry.

3. Application For Extension of Residence Permit

International students who need to stay in Nanjing after the expiration of their residence permit must go to Exit & Entry Administration of Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau apply for extension before the expiration.The application process and charging standard are the same as the first application. The following application documents shall be submitted:

(1) Original and copy of valid passport and visa;

(2) Original application letter of the Institute;

(3) Completed Visa and Residence Permit Application Form and one photo (white background and passport photo size);

(4) Registration Form of Temporary Residence.

4. Application For Change of Residence Permit

International students who change their residence address, Institutions or other circumstances shall apply for change of residence permit to the Exit & Entry Administration of Nanjing Municipal Public Security Bureau, and submit corresponding application documents according to the specific reasons for the change.

5. Attention Notes

(1) The first application (over the age of 16 but under the age of 60) must be in person;The reapplication can be handled by the applicant's Institute with relevant certificates;

(2) International students who take work-study or practice outside the Institute must apply for residence permit annotation. After obtaining the consent of the Institute, they shall submit the letter of consent issued by the Institute and the internship unit;

(3) If the Exit&Entry Administration of Public Security Bureau deems it necessary to interview the applicant or request to submit other relevant supplementary documents (such as fingerprint collection information, relevant guarantee certificate, etc.),except for the reason of force majeure,if it fails to accept the interview or submit documents within the appointed time, it shall be cancelled;

(4) The decision made by the Exit & Entry Administration of Public Security Bureau not to extend, renew or reissue ordinary visas, not to apply for foreigners' residence permit and not to extend the duration of residence shall be the final decision.

(5) During the validity of the residence permit, international students can stay in China , enter and leave China for many times.

(6) The public security organ will punish the international students who illegally stay in China or have other illegal acts according to law.
